Hwy 49 Crossing

Runners make their crossing of Highway 49 near the entrance to Teichert's limestone quarry, just north of the town of Cool. The Tevis Ride has not used this route for many years, opting instead to use the Lower Quarry area for a Vet Check and cross Hwy 49 closer to the river confluence.

The vast majority of runners traverse this checkpoint at night, and, because of it's accessible location, is fairly crowded and busy.

This checkpoint requires VHF and UHF mobile capability with a Good Mobile, Base Station or Yagi Antenna. Must have Battery or Generator power only. Runner progress is also reported to NCS via an Internet connection at this location.
